updates
A bit of an update to the site, and some goals
Well this summer has been a busy one! I’ve gone through one camera and started with a new one, still working on replacing the equipment lost… but I’ve finally managed to establish some manner of goals for myself when it comes to getting out more often and taking more photos.
As such I shall be moving some of the technical talk off of here, likely it will end up at http://djorgensen.mine.nu though that remains to be seen for certain. I’m also looking to share more about the details of the trips I embark on and talk about the photos and stories that led up to each of them since I’ve really been finding that the more that I hike and travel, the more the journey to get the photo you end up seeing in the end counts (and often they are rather interesting stories – like dealing with beetle attacks, crazy people walking up to wildlife, or just general unplanned occurrences). Other than that, you may also start to see posts from Marilyn regarding the work that she does too.
For now, I’ll leave you with this – a bit of an inspiring photo taken before we left for our last trip in August:
Leatherworking and mask making
Over the past couple of months I have had the opportunity to actually learn some proper techniques and had access to leather working tools. It has been something that I desired to do for years so I am very thankful for the opportunity and rather pleased with the results of the work that I did. It is likely to be something that I shall continue to work with for many years to come.
While I created a few leather arm bands, and a choker, the most interesting items were the masks:
Beyond that, not a great deal is new, been doing plenty of reading, a fair bit of sketching, and just taking the time to enjoy the free time I have.
Canada Day 2009 Fireworks and Spring Walks
This past week found me out and about taking photos at the Canada Day parade and the fireworks celebration in the evening. I’ve yet to get through all of the parade photos – yet the firework photos can be found on my flickr here:
Canada Day 2009 – Edmonton
Also earlier this spring I took a few afternoons with my camera to walk about the river valley and other parts of the city. I’ve got one of those sets posted on myflickr as well at:
Spring Walks 2009
Other than that, I’ve been going through a great deal of my older unprocessed photos – albeit rather slowly. Hopefully one day I shall manage to catch up on it all.
Mini Shoot, and Candied Apples
I’ve been pretty busy with the camera lately it seems. On Sunday I had a mini shoot with Marilyn, and ended up with a few good photos between the two of us. On Monday I also went out for a very long walk with Katie and managed a pile more photos that I have yet to really go through. From the looks of it my current processing folder has well over 1000 photos again.
Anyway here are the spoils from Sunday:
First is what I snagged of Marilyn
And what Marilyn snagged of me
There is going to be a ton more updates from the past week, possibly more from this little session too.
Also this evening I was given this tastefully wonderful caramel apple from Marilyn:
It ended up being the most happiest lil caramel apple! My septum ended up giving it eyes and my upper lip gave it a smile. It was entirely unplanned and yet entirely awesome. :D
I think that I am also still buzzing from all the sugar.
If I am lucky I’ll fall asleep soon here – I have an appointment to attend in 5 hours now…
Continuing with the updates!
So, continuing with the updates, the portfolio style is being modified to blend in better – though there is still much to go for it to be nice and clean. Still some breakage and some unhappy borders here and there.
I’ve also managed to reorganize the albums, and finally add some of the newest items!
There are still a ton more photos that I have to edit and upload, but thankfully the ball is finally rolling enough for it to be possible to get this all done and finished
The next few days should bring about these changes, and hopefully by then there will be some more photos edited too. Yay!
